Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Betty (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Betty.

2. What Betty Is

Betty is a bookkeeping and invoicing tool for small businesses. It helps you create invoices, track expenses, manage customers, and generate financial reports. Betty is not a licensed accounting firm, financial advisor, or tax preparer. Nothing in Betty constitutes financial, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional for those needs.

3. Your Account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to operate the business you register.

4. Plans and Billing

Free plan: Includes up to 10 invoices per month and core features at no cost. Always free — no credit card required.

Pro plan: Billed monthly ($29/month) or annually ($276/year, equivalent to $23/month). Gives you unlimited invoices, inventory tracking, and full reporting. Payment is processed through Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. Price changes won't affect your current billing period.

5. Cancellation and Refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Settings page. Your Pro access continues through the end of your paid billing period. We don't offer prorated refunds for partial periods, but we'll work with you if something went wrong on our end.

6. Your Data

You own your data. The business information, customer records, invoices, and financial data you enter into Betty belong to you. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising.

You grant us a limited license to store and process your data solely to provide the Service. You're responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for ensuring you have the right to store any customer information you add to Betty.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Betty to:

  • Violate any law or regulation
  • Store or transmit fraudulent, misleading, or illegal content
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy any part of the Service
  • Interfere with the security or integrity of the Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

8. Availability and Changes

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features with reasonable notice. For significant changes that affect how you use the Service, we'll notify you by email.

9. Limitation of Liability

Betty is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property matters.
